ASCON is saddled with three principal roles namely: Training, Research and Consultancy. In performing these roles, ASCON is expected to facilitate experiential learning activities, maintain a functional library as well as engage in publications for the purpose of disseminating knowledge as widely as possible.
- With particular respect to the Public Sector, ASCON is mandated to especially play three primary roles as follows:
- Build the requisite human capacity for policy development, programme/project planning and implementation and for efficient and effective service delivery;
- Act as “think thank” for the three tiers of government through conducting research into, and proffering solutions to the myriad of problems of public administration and management; and
- Act as management consultant to all tiers of government in order to improve work processes and system as well as initiate planned change to address the turbulence in the socio-economic and political environment.
