Change & Strategic Management Retreat for Senior and Mid-Level Managers of ASCON (Rebranding for Transformation)

The Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) recently organized a transformative Change & Strategic Management Retreat from June 11–13, 2025, designed for senior and mid-level managers. Themed “Rebranding for Transformation,” the retreat aimed to align leadership vision, foster teamwork, and drive strategic innovation within the organization.

The event featured renowned facilitators, including Melody Lenox and Anita Paxton from Innovation Without Borders, USA, alongside ASCON’s own Dr. James Komolafe and Mrs. Titi Ojo, who led dynamic sessions to empower participants with cutting-edge managerial strategies.  Sessions like “Interpreting the ASCON Vision” and “Building Winning Teams” engaged participants in profiling, positioning, and breaking barriers for organizational excellence. Activities like the “Know Grow Show” adjectival name game and other group exercises helped build a sense of connection among participants.

DAY 1

Day One opened with energy, connection, and a shared commitment to shaping ASCON’s future. Participants engaged in reflective conversations, vision-alignment activities, and team-building exercises aimed at driving transformation in public sector leadership. A Medical Health Corner was also set up to attend to staff health and well-being throughout the retreat. Under the inspiring leadership of Mrs. Funke Femi Adepoju, the tone was set for a purposeful and innovative retreat experience.

Day Two 

Day 2 focused on action, innovation, and strategic direction. From workshops on change management and operational excellence to insightful sessions on adaptability, participants explored how ASCON can remain relevant and effective. Breakout groups also identified key priorities to shape the institution’s future. The ideas were fresh, and the commitment to progress was evident.

With a blend of thought leadership, collaborative exercises, and networking, the retreat set the stage for actionable insights to propel ASCON’s mission as “Your Partner in Capacity Building.

The Gala Night was a vibrant and memorable highlight of the ASCON Transformation and Rebranding Retreat. It offered participants a well-deserved moment to relax and unwind after days of engaging strategic sessions focused on repositioning the institution for greater impact. The evening featured music, dance, and entertainment, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.

Beyond celebration, the Gala Night played a key role in fostering unity and collaboration among staff and stakeholders. It allowed for informal interactions, helping to strengthen interpersonal bonds and enhance team spirit. This camaraderie is essential as ASCON moves forward with its renewed vision and goals.

Day Three
 
The final day brought the retreat to a reflective and inspiring close. Participants explored strategic leadership in a changing public sector, focusing on how to lead with clarity and impact.
A compelling panel discussion featured selected management staff sharing practical insights on translating vision into action and their roles in advancing ASCON’s transformation agenda.
 
The retreat concluded with participants feeling inspired, aligned with the core purpose, and motivated to implement learned strategies in their respective roles.
