The Director-General of ASCON welcomed the Baale of Topo, His Royal Highness, Chief Michael Avoseh, and his entourage. She noted that their visit was a memorable one, underscoring the strengthening relationship between the institution and its host community.
The Baale expressed appreciation to the College Management for the warm reception accorded to him and his team. He congratulated the Director-General on her recent appointment and prayed for God to grant her the strength and energy to elevate ASCON beyond its current state. He highlighted the significant role ASCON plays in community development, particularly in the areas of health, employment, education, and the local economy. He also commended the institution’s commitment to excellence and pledged continued support from the host community. Furthermore, he appealed to the College to consider increasing employment opportunities for members of the host community beyond the current one-slot provision. He also requested that the ASCON Health Services Centre provide free health services and youth empowerment/education programs for the community.
In her response, the Director-General informed the visitors that the College had successfully trained over 700,000 participants since its establishment in 1973 and continued to do more. She emphasized her particular interest in the health sector, stating that she had facilitated the installation of solar power at the ASCON Health Centre to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. She further disclosed that the ASCON Clinic was preparing to commence a health outreach programme by the first week of July 2025. On employment, she assured that the concerns raised would be addressed. She also mentioned plans to support youth training in the community, particularly in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital literacy.

The Director of Procurement, Mr. Yunusa, acknowledged the peaceful and serene nature of the community and appreciated its support. He brought to the attention of His Royal Highness a recent spate of robberies within the College premises and requested assistance from the community’s vigilante group.
In response, the Baale assured that the vigilante group would be directed to intensify efforts to ensure the security of the College.
